The contemporary Arts Building is open to the public; it addresses all people, providing with a base for interaction, promoting understanding and experience of the World of Art and widening one’s horizons. As an example itself, the Arts Building yields to promote space to host interaction within. It allows for interrelations and activities to being performed, it accommodates activities, ideas, surprises and the unexpected. The contemporary Arts Building is open to the public; it offers diverse conditions and qualitative spaces, so as to allow the activities of the young people to develop within. The D. Daskalopoulos Arts Building is thus as a vessel for people living within; experimenting, learning, interacting with each other and being exposed to the World of Art. Giving priority to the actual activities, to the interaction and meeting of people, the architectural design creates an array of spaces, emphasizing the experience those spaces create. By providing spatial experiences and spaces for the activities to being performed within, the D. Daskalopoulos Arts Building is thus articulated through a network of spaces that are being experienced rather than only viewed. In this way, the building itself is a system of parts coming together in balance and harmony, than a detached object being viewed from far away. Infusion of natural light from above, unobstructed views towards the surrounding landscape, the Atrium, the Internal Garden, the Patio, the Piazza, the Sculpture Garden, internal circulation flows, openings, the Garden, the open-air theater, all comprise a total of spatial experiences [conditions], working together in harmony to create a whole. The building is then a statement for the arts by itself, an example of the SYNTHESIS ability –of the possibility and the potentiality of different and diverse aspects of the actual life of the building to merge, combine, structure themselves within, and compose a WHOLE system, which works harmoniously allowing the life of the Arts Building to develop, expand and cultivate within. The D. Daskalopoulos Arts Building states itself into the surroundings by making its presence noticeable, while at the same time, it curves to allow the life of the building, -its students, their interaction and their educational experience- to develop freely within.
